Positive Psychology focuses on enhancing well-being and flourishing. In doing so, it opens up the capacity to create a more balanced psychology that encompasses the wholeness of the human experience.
Somatic Therapy is a body-oriented therapeutic model for treating trauma, including PTSD and other stress disorders.
Holistic Coaching is an integration of all the modalities that I work with that tracks and attunes to a specific person’s nervous system and what it is calling for in the moment.
Somatic means “of the body”.
Somatic Therapy is a body-oriented therapeutic model for healing trauma and other stress disorders.
Somatic Therapy offers a framework to assess where a person is “stuck” in the fight, flight or freeze responses, and provides clinical tools to resolve these fixated physiological states. Somatic Therapy releases traumatic shock, which is key to transforming PTSD and the wounds of emotional and early developmental attachment trauma.
Somatic Therapy is based in multidisciplinary fields including physiology, psychology, ethology, biology, neuroscience, indigenous healing practices, and medical biophysics. It has been clinically applied successfully for more than 45 years.
Trauma may begin as acute stress from a perceived life-threat or as the end product of cumulative stress. Both types of stress can seriously impair a person’s ability to function with resilience and ease.
Somatic Therapy works by facilitating the completion of self-protective motor responses and the release of thwarted survival energy (shock trauma, adrenalin, etc.) bound in the body, thus addressing the root cause of trauma symptoms. This is approached by gently guiding clients to develop increasing tolerance for difficult bodily sensations and suppressed emotions.
Trauma may result from a wide variety of stressors such as:
Accidents, invasive medical procedures, sexual or physical assault, attacks, emotional abuse, neglect, war, natural disasters, loss, birth trauma, or the corrosive stressors of ongoing fear and conflict.
The most important thing to understand about positive psychology is that it is indeed science—it is a subfield of psychology.
Positive Psychology is the scientific study of optimal human functioning. It aims to discover and promote the factors that allow individuals and communities to thrive. – Seligman
Positive psychology is the scientific study of what makes life most worth living. It is a scientific approach to studying human thoughts, feelings, and behavior, with a focus on strengths instead of weaknesses, building the good in life instead of repairing the bad. – Peterson
Positive Psychology isn’t a “Happiology” or scientific study of just happiness, it is not solely about positive thinking . Negative emotions aren’t bad, nor are obstacles. People become mentally unhealthy when they get stuck in anger, anxiety, depression, judgment or guilt. Getting stuck in a positive emotion is also unhealthy since it can limit your flexibility—balance is important. Positive psychology was not established to replace traditional psychology, but to complement it with a positive bias that’s just as strong as psychology’s negative bias that has been established over the last several decades. Mental health means to be able to experience and feel the full range of human experiences and emotions and be able to digest everything without resistance, repelling or getting stuck.
Positive psychology is about the permission to be human. – Dr. Tal Ben Shahar
Holistic Coaching is an integration of all the modalities that I work with that tracks and attunes to a specific person’s nervous system and what it is calling for in the moment. I use the most effective techniques from therapeutic approaches to understand each client’s unique needs. I offer tools and techniques to cope with and to release bound-up survival energy from adverse or stressful events. In addition, I focus on ways to enable post-traumatic growth. I combine this with the scientific study of positive psychology, which offers a rich empirical foundation of evidence-based tools and theories to draw from.
I believe in educating my clients of what is relevant to their unique situations, because knowledge is empowering. Many of my clients are used to hearing or believing that there’s something wrong with them. Instead, I focus on building on what’s right with them, not fixing what’s wrong.
With a holistic approach, I empower my clients to heal and start moving forward in life. My coaching is rooted in empowering people to take care of themselves, and in doing so, learn to help their minds, bodies, and spirits feel their best.
It has become so normal for men to be and feel alone when facing challenges in their lives. You may feel you don’t have anyone to turn to or speak with about issues like why your relationships keep failing, why you don’t understand women, and why you feel lonely or always end up alone. Maybe you have no one to turn to because you are worried that you might be seen as vulnerable or weak, or that your masculinity will be questioned if you seek guidance. So, you keep covering up these questions and emotions and bear them in silence, hoping they will just go away. However, these questions will not go away until you forge a meaningful connection with yourself and others.
For a long time, men did not feel they had permission to work on their feelings and emotional growth, but today, they are finally starting to jump on board. Men are realizing that conscious women want more than a disconnected man. A man that is disconnected from himself will therefore be disconnected with everyone else. If men are to build mutually satisfying relationships, they need the understanding and skills to forge strong connections. Conscious women appreciate men who are present and can co-create a life with them. We need to see this disconnection as an opportunity to approach growth.
It is time for men to be truly seen, and it is time to reveal yourself so you can have the life you want.
