Regularly asking ourselves what we need in the moment can make a life changing impact. This act of self-love and care will remind you to come back to yourself and that you matter.
I want to be clear that this is not meant to be a self-indulgent question, but rather looking at what you may have been wired to be self-indulgent with. If you are not connected to your body-mind, the first thing that may arise when asking, “What do I need right now?”, is an old patterning which is actually stuck in a very young state. The immediate response to this question might be something like wanting to reach for unhealthy snacks, playing video games, ruminating, blaming others, or getting that quick high looking at sexually explicit imagery.
When you learn how to sit with the old patterning long enough through Somatic Therapy, you will start to recognize the childlike state that is emerging in these moments, you will gain self-awareness and know how to get to the root of what you are really needing.
